Spa etiquette code of conduct

This code of conduct sets out rules of behaviour and will assist you in understanding what is expected of guests, in order to make your time at the Turkish Baths Harrogate the most relaxing and tranquil experience it can be.

By booking with us today, you are agreeing to follow our spa etiquette code of conduct which is the following:

  • advance bookings and payments are required for all treatments and can be made online or through our reservations line on 01423 556746. (If you are booking with a voucher you will need to call us)
  • cancellation policy - if you wish to cancel your appointment you are kindly requested to give a minimum of 48 hours notice. Cancellations with less than two days notice will not be refunded
  • arrival time
    • for the Turkish Baths Experience - please arrive five minutes before your allocated time slot
    • for treatments - please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. This will allow you to relax and change into your robe and slippers. You will be asked to complete a consultation card
    • as a courtesy to all our guests a late arrival may mean that your treatment time is reduced
  • Turkish Baths Experience reservations are for 1½ to 2 hours. The attendants will advise users when the session will end
  • Turkish Baths and Spa Experience are an adult [16+] facility. It is a term and condition of entry that you may be asked for verification of your age. If you are unable to provide appropriate identification such as a passport or driving licence, you will be refused entry
  • the cold plunge pool is situated next to the relaxation area. Please access and exit the pool via the steps only. Strictly no jumping or diving into the plunge pool is allowed. When entering the pool, please continue to follow our rules below regarding noise levels
  • we respectfully request that all our guests are mindful of others and keep noise to a respectful level and keep voice levels to a minimum to preserve the sense of tranquillity of the surroundings
  • please be a considerate guest. You play an important part in creating and maintaining the tranquillity you will find here. Share public spaces respectfully and consider other guests and staff with a private, safe and healthy approach
  • non-compliance with the Turkish Baths Harrogate etiquette code of conduct, may result in your access to the facilities being withdrawn
  • swimwear is compulsory at all sessions (including single-sex sessions). Appropriate swimwear includes swimming trunks, swimming shorts, swimming costumes, swim dresses, bikinis, tankinis, burkinis, hijoods (or similar swimwear). Inappropriate swimwear includes underwear, transparent costumes or thongs, sporting wear, denim or cotton leggings
  • Turkish Baths Harrogate Management Team reserve the right to determine whether swimwear is appropriate. Guests who do not wear appropriate attire will be asked to change or asked to leave the premises
  • we politely remind all guests that in the interest of hygiene, guests must keep their towels with them at all times and use these to sit on in the rest beds and heat rooms. When finished using, please discard in the allocated towels drops provided throughout
  • no outdoor shoes are to be worn past the wooden changing cubicles, shoes need to be taken off and put in the lockers provided
  • Turkish Baths Harrogate is not liable for any personal possessions lost in the spa. Personal toiletries may be brought into the Turkish Baths but we ask them not to be oil-based or within glass containers
  • we provide hair dryers and hair straighteners. You will not be able to plug in your own electrical equipment
  • the therapist performing your treatment reserves the right to stop the treatment at any time if they feel that the guest's behaviour is inappropriate
  • guests are advised not to consume alcohol prior to using the facilities and none to be consumed on-site
  • guests must not consume food and/or hot drinks within the Turkish baths. Light snacks and drinks may be purchased and consumed within our café area only
  • guests are advised to drink plenty of fluids whilst using the thermal spa experience
  • for the comfort of other guests and to allow you to escape from the outside world, we do not permit the use of cameras, mobile phones, tablets, personal stereos or any other electrical device during your visit
  • please ensure that you are dry and robed before entering the reception area
  • if you feel unwell whilst using the facility, please inform a staff member. In an emergency, please use the nearest emergency alarm
  • if an emergency occurs or Turkish Baths attendants require management support in single-gender sessions, a duty manager who may be of a different gender may enter the baths. This is also the case at the end of the session
  • medical advice - some treatments may be unsuitable for some medical conditions. We advise you to consult your GP with any concerns regarding medical conditions and how this may affect your visit prior to booking with us
  • surgery - if you have had a general anaesthetic, you will not be able to have treatment with us for a minimum of six months after the date the surgery was performed
  • pregnancy - unfortunately the Turkish Baths Experience is not suitable during pregnancy. We have specifically designed treatments for those who may be expecting. Please note we can only perform pregnancy-safe treatments after the first trimester (12wks+)
  • gift cards purchased are for monetary value, are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for credit. They are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
